On February 20, 1926, the Old North State Chapter NSDAR and Colonel Joseph Winston Chapter NSDAR jointly organized the Governor Alexander Martin Society Children of the American Revolution (N.S.C.A.R.). Over the years both chapters provided leadership for the Society, but by 1950, the Old North State Chapter NSDAR assumed full responsibility.

Governor Alexander Martin Society N.S.C.A.R. is the oldest active Children of the American Revolution chapter in North Carolina.
