American History Essay Contest
The American History Essay Contest was established to encourage young people to think creatively and present history in a new light. Essays are judged for historical accuracy, adherence to the topic, organization of materials, interest, originality, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and neatness.
Junior American Citizens Contest
Junior American Citizens contests are offered to encourage a deeper sense of social responsibility and interest in civics and the history of the United States. Entries in art, creative expression, and community service are judged by grade on three levels (gifted, general, and special needs) so that every child may enter the contest regardless of ability.
DAR Good Citizens Program
The DAR Good Citizens program and Scholarship Contest is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. The student selected as the school’s DAR Good Citizen will embody the following qualities: Dependability, Service, Leadership, and Patriotism.
ROTC Medals
The DAR awards metals to outstanding ROTC students in recognition of preparation and training for officers entering service in the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps.
DAR Outstanding Cadet Medals
The DAR Outstanding Cadet Medal recognizes student cadets who participate in non-ROTC, military-affiliated cadet programs who demonstrate outstanding leadership, honor, service, courage, and patriotism.
